Lost In The Sound presents you with the first MiaoMix, a mix of songs put together by your’s truly. This will be a new feature on the site that I’ll update once every one or two weeks depending on the response for this one. This mix will attempt to stray from Lost In The Sound’s normal vibes. Two years ago, blues-rock band The Black Keys released Blakroc, the rock rap album with rappers such as Mos Def, Raekwon and Ludacris. News of Blakroc 2 has just emerged and features include Talib Kweli, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, the Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, U-God, Jim Jones, OC, and Sean Price. Fucked Up and Wavves will be co-headlining a tour this fall. While the two bands are very different in genre, both have had critically acclaimed albums recently with Wavves‘ King of the Beach and Fucked Up‘s David Comes to Life. Now Wavves will be releasing a new EP titled Life Sux on September 20, which has a track featuring co-headliners Fucked Up. Read more to see the tour dates.
Last year in January, Vampire Weekend released Contra. The album cover was a picture of model Ann Kirsten Kennis and she accused the band of using the photo without her permission. She sued the band, photographer and label for $2 million. The year-long case has finally been dismissed by a Los Angeles federal court, but now Vampire Weekend and XL Recordings are suing the photographer Tod Brody for misrepresenting the rights to the photo. To make things worse for Brody, his attorney’s have left him by himself in court for not paying his bills, so Brody has to represent himself in court. Good luck, man.
Five months after receiving great reviews for his mixtape, Return of 4Eva, rapper Big K.R.I.T. has just dropped another mixtape. The mixtape is called Last King 2: God’s Machine, which is a follow-up to his 2009 release, The Last King. The mixtape is presented by DJ Wally Sparks and DJ Breakem Off you can download the new mixtape for free here. Big K.R.I.T. does the production on a majority of the tracks and guests in the mixtape include Wiz Khalifa, Yelawolf, Pimp C, and more. Read more to see the tracklist.
Radiohead will be the musical guest performing on the first episode of season 37 on Saturday Night Live. The performance will be on September 24 with Alec Baldwin hosting the episode. Watch a video below of the band performing a b-side off of The King of Limbs.
Aficionado has officially released the stream for their new self-titled album, which is out today on No Sleep Records. This new release follows the band’s successful debut EP, When It Comes To Creaton. Aficionado was recorded with AJ Mogis, who has also previously worked with Cursive, Bright Eyes, and M. Ward. The collaboration of Seattle’s Macklemore and Ryan Lewis has brought us The VS. EP (click here to download the EP for free) in 2009 and now they have a video out for their song “Wings”, which was originally written in 2008. Ben Haggerty, better known as Seattle hip-hop artist Macklemore, soulfully raps about his love of basketball shoes and the game itself. Watch the video below.
Electronic shoegaze artist Anthony Gonzalez, better known as M83, has released a new song titled “Midnight City”. This song will be on M83‘s new album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, the follow-up to the critically acclaimedSaturdays=Youth that came out in 2008.
