OK Go Premiere “The Greatest Song I Ever Heard”
OK Go‘s new single “The Greatest Song I Ever Heard” was written for director Morgan Spurlock’s (best known for Super Size Me) latest film, POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, out April 22. The single serves as the theme song for the new documentary that explores the world of product placement. Ironically, the movie itself was funded entirely through corporate sponsorship and the title of the movie even includes an advertisement.
Is it really the greatest song ever? Probably not, but it certainly is a jaunty little rock anthem. Listen for yourself over at Rolling Stone.
New: Childish Gambino – “Break (AOTL)”
Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, dropped a new track today entitled “Break (AOTL)”, flipping Kanye West‘s “All Of The Lights”. The newest song will be included in Donald’s upcoming project IAMDONALD. Gambino’s signature flow, witty punchlines, and an interesting acoustic twist on the song make this track a must-listen.

New: Kid Cudi – “Capcom”
The latest Kid Cudi track, entitled “Capcom”, is a nod to the Cleveland rapper’s videogame love, featuring a wild beat that is no doubt inspired by gaming soundtracks everywhere. Cudi goes all out, declaring his intention to take on the world in the chorus. According to Cudi, the song was recorded early last year for a Street Fighter game. It’s safe to say that this song will not appear on his upcoming summer mixtape A Man Named Scott or his rock album Wizard. Check out the song, as well as Cudi’s thoughts about it below.
“The song in which the world has titled “capcom” was done early last year for a project chad hugo and kenna were working on for a Street Fighter game and they reached out and asked me to be a part of it. This was a demo reference and i never really got to rework my verses or see the project through. Its old and isnt of my discography. I have a new jam im releasing soon and it will be current freshness. Stay tuned.”

Although post-hardcore band Emery released a preview clip of “Scissors” back in January when they announced the release of their fifth album We Do What We Want, the entire track is worth a listen. We Do What We Want was released on March 29th and is noted for being their heaviest album yet, but Devin Shelton’s melodic vocals keep Emery’s sound to what listeners have always appreciated. The first nine seconds of the track could fool listeners, because right away, it appears that the entire track could be covered in screams and double-bass hits, but then Shelton’s voice takes over, delivering passionate lyrics that shine the whole way through, especially during the build-up to the breakdown. “Hands held towards the sky in the cool air of October, the whispers were always there, but they never caught up to your words, so will December find me all alone,” sets up an ending to “Scissors” that closes as hard as the track begins.

Not many people know this, but I was actually born in Japan, and although I only lived there for a couple of years, I’ve always had a deep love for the country and its people. I cannot express how sad and helpless I’ve felt reading about everything that is happening there right now, and even though we couldn’t be there, we wanted to do everything we could to help.

Four years after the Texas-based post-rock band Explosions in the Sky released All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone, they have finally released a new song. “Trembling Hands” is the first official single off of Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, the band’s sixth official studio album. If you’re already familiar with the band’s old music, you will know that this song is much different from their past work. First off, this song is no more than four minutes long, which is fitting for a single, but odd for an Explosions in the Sky song. Also, instead of having a long, monumental build-up, the song immediately starts out upbeat, with the drums kicking in from the beginning. Another thing to note is that this song has very faint, but distinguishable vocals. However, this song still has what Explosions in the Sky fans have been craving for for years: vibrant guitar riffs and ornate soundscapes. “Trembling Hands” is an energetic song which shows that the band has definitely changed their overall sound over the years. This song could be a good example of what the new album will sound like, but is it for the better? That’s for you to decide.
