MiaoMix Monday #6 [Actor-Rappers]
With Childish Gambino and Drake releasing their new albums today, I thought it would be fun to make a playlist composed of actor-rappers. Interestingly enough, both of these artists began their careers as fairly well-known actors: Gambino currently acts on NBC’s Community, writes for 30 Rock, and more, while Aubrey Drake Graham famously got his start as a child actor on Degrassi. The following playlist contains some rapper-turned-actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Will Smith as well as other actor-turned-rappers like Method Man. You can listen to the full MiaoMix below. Video: Red Bull Interview With DOOM
After only recently releasing a collaboration with Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, it appears DOOM (formerly MF DOOM) has done a rare video interview with Red Bull that lasts a whopping hour and forty minutes long. Often an enigma, DOOM reveals his process for writing songs, the reason for the mask, and the ideas behind his supervillain personas. It’s awkward at times (especially the intro where ego trip Magazine’s Chairman Jefferson Mao plays “Beef Rapp” for the audience to vibe to), but the masked rapper does drop a few notable tidbits of information, including a possible diss track from Viktor Vaughn to DOOM (for the uninitiated, both are alter-egos of DOOM). He also notes that the new Madvillain record is almost completed and should be wrapped up in January.

Video: Childish Gambino Performs “Bonfire” Live on ‘Fallon’
NBC sure is treating comedian/actor/rapper Donald Glover well. After appearing as Troy Barnes on Thursday night’s episode of Community, Glover returned to NBC as Childish Gambino on Friday night to perform his latest single “Bonfire” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Although Glover is no stranger to TV, he was actually making his first ever appearance as Gambino last night, rocking the stage with his electrifying, punch-line laden rap and a live band accompanying him. Listen to DOOM, Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood Collab
Those saddened by the recent Ben Gibbard/Zooey Deschanel split need not be saddened anymore. For the tenth anniversary of Lex Records, Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have collaborated with the one and only DOOM to create a track titled “Retarted Fren”. The song, which you can hear over here, features DOOM rapping over a beat much akin to Yorke’s recent endeavors.
Yorke and DOOM have previously collaborated on a remix of DOOM’s “Gazzillion Ear”, which you can hear by clicking right here.

Video: Kid Cudi – “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)”
The long-awaited short film for Kid Cudi‘s “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)” has finally been released. Directed by Shia LaBeouf, the ten-minute-long video features Cudi and fellow rapper Cage going on violent, gory killing sprees. Over the top? Definitely.
Tracklist to Drake’s ‘Take Care’ Revealed
Drake‘s highly-anticipated sophomore effort, Take Care, now has a confirmed tracklisting courtesy of the Microsoft Zune market. The album will be out on November 15th via Young Money, following a delay caused by sample-clearing issues.
“Headlines”, “Marvin’s Room”, the Nicki Minaj featuring “Make Me Proud”, and the final version of “The Real Her” with an additional verse from Andre 3000 will all be included on the album, while “Dreams Money Can Buy” is not included. Additional guest spots include OVOXO’s The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Rick Ross.

MiaoMix Monday #5 [Halloween]
Today is Halloween and today’s the perfect day to celebrate. I put together a mix of songs that in my opinion would be great to listen to during Halloween. None of them are actually directly related to Halloween in any way, but I think they have a very suitable vibe. The playlist this week isn’t really focused on any specific genre, but the first half of the playlist is rap and the 2nd half is a mix of dubstep, folk, and R&B music. The last song is “John Wayne Gacy, Jr.” by Sufjan Stevens and if you’re at all familiar with the song, you’d think it wouldn’t fit in this playlist, but I think that it’s a perfect ending to this week’s mix.
