Watch: Trailer for LCD Soundsystem Documentary

As previously reported, this year’s Sundance Film Festival will contain a documentary revolving around dance punk band LCD Soundsystem called Shut Up and Play the Hits (taken from a line shouted by Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler during the band’s final concert). The documentary, which is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, details the band’s last few days before the final show last year in April, and will premiere January 22nd at the festival. Check out the trailer below:

Sound Off: LCD Soundsystem’s Final Show

Thanks to Pitchfork Media, everyone can take part in James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem‘s final show at a sold out Madison Square Garden, which is currently going on right now. Join the (no doubt) millions of people around the world that are tuning in on the Pitchfork website.

We’ve provided access to the stream below as well and we encourage you to leave some comments and thoughts about the performance as the show progresses. “Where are your friends tonight?” Probably enjoying the show.

Stream LCD Soundsystem’s Final Show

LCD Soundsystem will play their last farewell show at Madison Square Garden on April 2. It sold out pretty quickly, but people will not have to worry about seeing the show. There will be a live stream on Pitchfork. It’s going to be a one-time broadcast, so make sure not to miss it.

Gorillaz Break Up

Looks like another breakup is on the horizon. Just days after LCD Soundsystem and The White Stripes announced their breakups, Gorillaz will reportedly also throw in the towel. The People has reported that Gorillaz will split due to arguments between Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. One “massive argument” after the band’s world tour “basically ended things.” Furthermore, “things haven’t been great for a while” between Albarn and Hewlett.

We’ll keep you updated on new information about the breakup. At present, The People, one of the UK’s biggest Sunday newspapers, is the only source of this report.

UPDATE: According to Jamie’s son, Denholm, the Gorillaz are not breaking up, but are “taking time apart from each other to work on other projects.”

LCD Soundsystem Announce Final Show

LCD Soundsystem have announced on their website that they will be playing their last show ever on April 2nd at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The band will be playing a three hour set opened by Liquid Liquid and will play “stuff we’ve never played before.” They also requested that fans arrive donned in white, black, or black and white.

Tickets will be on sale February 11th at bowerypresents.com and ticketmaster.com.
