SBTRKT – BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Session

SBTRKT and Sampha took some time recently to visit BBC Radio 1‘s Annie Mac, recording his Live Lounge Session. After finishing a live version of “Hold On”, a track from his self-titled debut LP, the pair also graced our ears with a fantastic cover of Friendly Fires‘ “Blue Cassette”. The mysterious UK producer is currently in the studio working on his next LP, which will contain a track featuring Friendly Fires’ vocalist Ed Macfarlane. Listen: SBTRKT – “Fried Eggs” [Japanese Bonus Track]

Despite his affinity for ceremonial tribal masks and anonymity, masked producer SBTRKT has become a staple in the London electronic music scene. His self-titled debut record hooked listeners all over the world, so it was only fair that the Japanese version of the album included a special never-before-heard track titled “Fried Eggs”. No surprises here and it’s pretty much just what we’ve come to expect from SBTRKT.

Video: SBTRKT – “Pharoahs (feat. Roses Gabor)”

British producer SBTRKT may still be hiding behind his mask, but his music is certainly making waves. His newest single “Pharoahs”, from his fantastic self-titled debut album, has received an artistic set of visuals, keeping things simple with multiple shots of guest vocalist Roses Gabor singing her lines over SBTRKT’s intricately-crafted post-dubstep beats. We still are unable to see past the producer’s mask, with randomly dispersed shots of him painting the camera with black paint and what seems to be a peak through the eyes of the mask. Abstract, mysterious, but beautiful — a formula that not only describes this video, but also his vibrant music. You can watch for yourself below.

SBTRKT is out now via Young Turks.

Listen: SBTRKT – “Up & Down (feat. Sampha)”

joomplu:294SBTRKT, the masked producer who is taking the music world by storm with his debut album, took to his Soundcloud to post a brand new live recording featuring vocals from Sampha. There isn’t much information behind this track, but the basic beat and signature synths blend well with Sampha’s vocals. Laid back and perfect for a relaxing Monday night listen. No download is currently available, but you can listen below.
