Video: Kid Cudi – “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)”

The long-awaited short film for Kid Cudi‘s “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)” has finally been released. Directed by Shia LaBeouf, the ten-minute-long video features Cudi and fellow rapper Cage going on violent, gory killing sprees. Over the top? Definitely.

Video: XV – “U.F.C.”

XV, the kid with the green backpack, released a fresh set of visuals for one of his recent mixtape’s hardest-hitting songs, “U.F.C.”, which also features vocals from Kristina Rose. If you watched Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, you’ll definitely enjoy the Joker Thugs trailing along throughout the video, which was shot throughout Chicago by Rex Arrow Films.

Check it out below. Vizzy’s debut album should be out in 2012. Hold tight.

Video: Common – “Blue Sky”

Ever since Common first released his new single “Blue Sky”, I’ve been listening to it excessively. There’s something special about that Electric Light Orchestra sample…

Below, you can watch the newly-released music video for the track. The Dreamer, The Believer out on November 22, 2011 through Warner Bros. Records and is entirely produced by No I.D. From what we’ve heard already, the album (Common’s ninth) is set to be a great one. As he put it himself: “It’s going to be positive hip-hop. Hip-hop that can really generate good spirit, the spirit of the music and just good energy.”

Jamie xx Teams Up With Quayola for “Progress”

Producer Jamie xx teamed up with multimedia artist Quayola and his team, Abstract Birds, to create stunning visuals for a brand new track entitled “Progress”. Resembling a sort-of DNA strand, the video was created using two 15-meter HD screens and Partitura software as part of the ‘Structures’ project with Rizlab.

You can watch the video over at Rizlab’s webpage. More videos will be released as the week progresses, including recordings of Jamie xx and Quayola from a September 22nd live performance.

Foster The People Live on Saturday Night Live

Just in case you’re one of the very sheltered few who haven’t yet heard Foster The People‘s infectious single, “Pumped Up Kicks”, the Los Angeles trio dropped by Saturday Night Live to perform two songs – the other of which is “Houdini”. The performance also includes a guest appearance by Kenny G in the final horn section of “Pumped Up Kicks”.

Check out the two videos below.

Watch: Drake – “Headlines”

Drake revealed the album art for his upcoming sophomore album Take Care a few days ago and now we have the first set of visuals for the album as well. Shot in Drizzy’s hometown of Toronto, the video for first single “Headlines” features him parading around his hometown, rapping, smoking cigars, and enjoying the company of his posse. OVOXO.

Take Care will be released on Drizzy’s 25th birthday, October 24, 2011 via Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records.

Video: The Dangerous Summer – “Work In Progress”

It isn’t much, but we now have a black-and-white video accompaniment to The Dangerous Summer‘s lead single “Work In Progress”. One of my personal favorites from the album, “Work In Progress” is the band’s heaviest song to date and relies heavily on the emotional weight and power that AJ Perdomo’s voice carries. The video is really quite simple, featuring close-up shots of the band performing the song over a white backdrop.

War Paint is out now via Hopeless. You can purchase it on iTunes here.

Malkovich – “Palms” [MP3 + Video]

If you’ve been ‘watching the throne’ lately, you’ll know that hip-hop’s best have been putting out some grandiose tracks. Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s video for “Otis (feat. Otis Redding)” certainly cemented that in our heads, with the two veterans trashing a $350,000 Maybach and having some good-natured fun.

Malkovich flips this all in his new video for “Palms”, a track dedicated to the L.A. neighborhood of the same name and his home for eight years. The very same place where Snoop Dogg caught his murder case many years back. That Palms.

MP3: Malkovich Music – “Palms”

Featuring the local residents, the homeless, and even a US flag mural (in reference to “Otis”), “Palms” is a deep, reflective ode for the working class with an old-school vibe. You can check out the music video below.
