Listen: John Legend – “Tonight (Remix) (feat. Pusha T)”

The week is just about over and once again, the GOOD Music family celebrates Friday by gracing our ears with a new track. Hungry as always, Pusha T deals another hearty serving of dope (pun intended there)  and hops on fellow GOOD Music artist John Legend‘s single “Tonight (Best You Ever Had)”. The original was already a great listen and with an additional verse from Pusha, things only get better. Hard to argue with that.

GOOD Music’s collaboration album Cruel Summer will hit the streets August 7th.

Listen: Common – “The Believer (feat. John Legend)”

It’s disappointing that Common‘s forthcoming LP won’t arrive until December 20. Why? That release date has two meanings to me: 1) we still have over two weeks to wait and 2) The Dreamer, The Believer won’t make it onto this year’s year-end lists. Considering My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘s snubbing at the Grammy’s this year, here’s to hoping that Common won’t be left behind in a years time (but really, who cares about the Grammy’s, right?).

Com just dropped off yet another new song on his Soundcloud page and this time, it’s one-half of the title track. “The Believer” features a soulful hook from John Legend and follows in the footsteps of the previously released tracks with an incredibly inspirational and uplifting sound. It’s practically audio therapy.

Lupe Fiasco Talks Lasers: “I hate this album.”

In a new interview with Complex Magazine, Lupe Fiasco revealed some startling information about his new album, discussing songs like “The Show Goes On” that he was forced to make by Atlantic Records and why he hates Lasers.

“I had to do ‘Show Goes On,’ that was like the big chip on the table. I had to do it and it had to be the first single if the record was going to come out. And then there’s ‘Never Forget You’ [featuring John Legend]—which is another record I had nothing to do with—which became another bargaining chip, like, ‘Yo, after ‘Show Goes On’ there’s going to be this other record that you had nothing to do with.’ And I know John Legend, he’s a cool dude. But it was just a record he had sitting around and Exec A or Exec B heard it, and they were like, ‘Oh yeah! We’re going to put this on Lupe.’ And it wasn’t like, ‘Hey Lupe, do you like this song?’ it was like, ‘You got to do this record.'”

“One thing I try to stress about this project is, I love and hate this album. I listen to it and I’ll like some of the songs. But when I think about what it took to actually get the record together and everything that I went through on this record—which is something I can’t separate—I hate this album.”

On the topic of the album’s multiple delays, Lupe said, “It’s like, ‘Another album out but the main root of the problem is still unsolved.’ And then there are records you literally had nothing to do with. That was a part of the compromise. Compromise doesn’t mean everybody is going to be happy, it’s just we’re going to do the best thing we can. The best thing for both parties is for this album to come out. Whether that means we’re homies or whether that means everything is cool now, that’s a different story.”

GOOD Saturday?

Following the leak of “Lost In The World”, Kanye West announced that there would not be a GOOD Friday track released this week. Even so, Kanye has indeed released a new GOOD Friday track, surfacing early Saturday morning. The new track “Christian Dior Denim Flow” is almost seven minutes long and features Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks and Ryan Leslie.

You can download the new track and other past GOOD Friday tracks here.
