Odd Future Release Tracklist and Covers for OF Tape Vol. 2

Odd Future‘s second collective album, OF Tape Vol. 2, will be out March 20th via their own Odd Future Records and today we get our first look at its 18-track-long tracklist and its four covers (shown above). Featuring no outside guest verses, OF Tape Vol. 2 includes new material from every Odd Future member except for Earl Sweatshirt, who recently made his long-awaited return home from Samoa.

Before that album drops however, we’ll first get new material from the gradually improving Hodgy Beats, who just announced that his new Untitled EP features production from Flying Lotus, the Alchemist, Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia, and Thelonious Martin and will be out this Friday.

Watch: OFWGKTA – “Rella”

Check out a new music video from Los Angeles based hip hop collective Odd Future for their song “Rella”, which features Tyler the Creator, Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis and production by Left Brain. The video comes chock full of funky wigs, samurai space suits, and laser transforming genitalia and is in promotion for the group’s next release, OF Tape Vol. 2, which will be coming out March 20th through their own Odd Future Records.

Also coming up for the crew is the premiere of their own TV show on Adult Swim, Loiter Squad. The show will premiere five days after their new tape on March 25th, and you can check out a teaser over at World Star Hip Hop.

Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt Returns

After being reportedly stuck in a Samoan camp for quite some time, it appears that Odd Future‘s Earl Sweatshirt has finally come back home. The young rap prodigy, most known for his fantastic mixtape, Earl, created both a Twitter and Tumblr account, and has also released a youtube video teasing new material in return for receiving 50,000 followers. Upon reaching the milestone, Earl tweeted a link to his new website, Terttlefer.com (turtle effer?), which contained a new song fittingly titled “Home”.

The Los Angeles based hip hop skateboard collective, who have a busy year ahead, also released the album art (shown above) to OF Tape Vol. 2, which fits into their established style and features OF collaborator Lucas Vercetti. Check out the music video for Earl Sweatshirt’s “EARL” below.

Odd Future Update: New OF Tape and More

2011 was a fantastic year for Los Angeles based hip-hop/skateboard collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All with releases from Tyler the Creator, Mellowhype, Frank Ocean, The Internet and Mike G, and yet after all that it looks like the group still won’t be slowing down in 2012. Following last year’s Goblin, Tyler the Creator is set to release Wolf  sometime in the spring, which was described by him as a deviation from his previous releases. Duo Hodgy beats and Leftbrain are also releasing a followup Mellowhype album titled Numbers sometime in the summer.

The collective has also announced OF Tape Vol. 2, which features new music from Tyler, the Creator, Hodgy Beats, Frank Ocean, Leftbrain, Domo Genesis, Mike G, Syd the Kyd and The Internet. The tape is a followup to the crew’s 2008 debut outing The Odd Future Mixtape, which you can download for free over here. On top of it all, Tyler and gang will also be premiering their own “Jackass”-like sketch show, Loiter Squad, March 25h on Adult Swim.

Head over here to check out a limited edition t-shirt designed by Tyler the Creator that will be released through Qubic Store. The shirt was made in response to the collective being kicked out of the lineup for Big Day Out 2012 Auckland, and they are set to have their own show at the Auckland Powerstation January 19th instead.

All future releases will be released through the crew’s own Odd Future Records.

Odd Future‘s haziest rapper and self-proclaimed king Mike G has released his long-awaited Award Tour EP, a seven track project filled with in-house production anda few collaborations with Vince Staples. Mike G’s still gearing up for the release of his proper sophomore album Gold (set for release on Odd Future Records?), but at least we can bump the Award Tour EP in the meantime. Talent isn’t something that is defined by age. That’s something youngsters Odd Future have made clear in the past year, with the extremely talented, 17-year-old Earl Sweatshirt dropping nicer lines than rappers double his age. Today, I have a new track from the 16-year-old A-10, who hails from Durham, North Carolina. With his team, A-10 has been drawing attention for his clean flow and chilled-out sound, personally reminding me of a blend between Curren$y and Chip Tha Ripper. His upcoming mixtape is entitled The Cold and will be out at the end of this month. Check out “Let You Know” with Young Brew below.

The new album will be out November 8th via Decon and G.O.O.D. Music and also includes Pusha’s well-received collaboration with OFWGKTA‘s Tyler, the Creator.

OFWGKTA Announce Young N*gga – “Come Threw Looking Clean”

Given the nature of LA rap collective Odd Future, I was extremely surprised to see a press release titled “ODD FUTURE RECORDS announces inaugural signing!” pop up in my email inbox earlier today. Here’s what it said:

“ODD FUTURE RECORDS SIGNS YOUNG NI**A
DEBUT SINGLE GOING LIVE AT 3PM PST TODAY

 Odd Future Records is extremely excited to announce our first official signing, Young Ni**a. While our original intent was not to sign anyone to the label we simply could not pass up the opportunity to sign somebody this talented. Young Ni**a embodies the DIY ethic and persona of Odd Future along with a commercial appeal that transcends demographics. We will be premiering his first single today at 3pm PST on www.oddfuture.com”

Really? A new member by the name of Young Nigga? On Odd Future Records?

So when “Come Threw Looking Clean” finally made its appearance on Odd Future’s tumblr page, I wasn’t extremely surprised to find out the entire thing was a joke, with the “new member” actually being de-facto leader Tyler, the Creator in a beanie. Mixtape: Domo Genesis – Under The Influence

It’s not the full-fledged follow up to Rolling Papers, but yesterday we got a brand new free mixtape from Odd Future‘s stoner-rap specialist Domo Genesis. His latest project, Under The Influence, is a fourteen track mixtape featuring Domo rapping over some of his favorite industry beats, including Kanye West‘s “We Major”. The whole affair sounds quite out of place in the rest of the OF catalog, firmly cementing Domo’s place as the explosive collective’s most laid back member.

Odd Future’s de-facto leader Tyler, the Creator makes an appearance as Ace on “Whole City Behind Us”. While Under The Influence, isn’t quite as polished as Tyler’s Bastard mixtape or Earl Sweatshirt‘s EARL, it’s still a great piece of work. You can download the entire mixtape below. Odd Future Announce TV Series ‘Loiter Squad’ on Adult Swim

Adult Swim announced earlier today that rapper/skater collective Odd Future will be premiering their TV show Loiter Squad on their channel next year. The TV series will feature 15 minute long live-action episodes featuring sketches, man on the street segments, pranks, and music from the Los Angeles group. Produced by Dickhouse Entertainment (Johnny Knowville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze), Loiter Squad will follow in the footsteps of Dickhouse’s previous works, including Jackass and Nitro Circus.

Tyler, the Creator has shown his directing prowess in the past, leading to his “Yonkers” video to win the VMA for Best New Artist and 22 million views on Youtube. His Thurnis Haley skits on Youtube should also provide a preview for the content we can expect on Loiter Squad.
