Interestingly enough, the song is being billed on iTunes as a Kanye song with features from the rest of G.O.O.D. Music. Upon listening though, “Mercy” sounds nothing like a pure Kanye song and is definitely a collaborative work. Lyrically, there isn’t much content here aside from the hearty dose of braggadocio from each rapper, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when its delivered from rappers as technically talented as these guys are. I completely slept on Gilbere Forte. I admit: it took an appearance on a BET Cyper and The Hundreds presenting his newest mixtape/EP for me to listen to him. But now that I’ve listened to Some Dreams Never Sleep, I can’t stop; this Philadelphia MC is on point. I mean, look at the star-studded cast he managed to pull together for the 11-track project: Big K.R.I.T., Jim Jones, Pusha T, Asher Roth, Casey Veggies, and more.
Gilbere easily goes toe-to-toe with each of these rappers, spitting memorable verse after memorable verse. He’s young, he has a message, and he’s ready to shine. You can download three choice cuts below and if you like what you hear, the full EP is available for free after the break.

Pusha T ventured into the booth and recorded a new banger over Jai Paul‘s electric joint “BTSTU”, rhyming over the same beat as Drake‘s “Dreams Money Can Buy”. The Clipse rapper argues that no shots were fired on, but it’s pretty obvious that Push has more than a mouthful to share with the world. Perhaps the GOOD Music/Def Jam vs. Young Money feud is really going to heat up now? Check out the song for yourself below.

Pusha T always has his drugdealer past on his mind (and in his verses), but this time, the Clipse rapper teams up with Odd Future‘s Tyler, The Creator to discuss the trouble on his mind. The first single from Pusha’s upcoming mixtape Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray, “Trouble On My Mind” features simplistic, atmospheric, and ultimately haunting production from The Neptunes and three on-point verses. Pusha spins a story about his troubled past before handing the mic to Tyler, who delivers a maniacal verse in his signature style. The two then split the third verse, with Tyler referencing his highly-successful single, “Yonkers”, and Pusha T closing by addressing the mismatch between himself and Tyler: “This is for the critics who doubted the chemistry/Two different worlds, same symmetry.” Thankfully for us, he’s right; despite the stylistic differences on paper, the collaboration simply works.
