Kelsie Brown, a Washington-based solo artist has put out her fourth and final release, “Empty Staircases”, under the new moniker, Red Alder. Red Alder produces ambient atmospheric music, with an influence from classical music which can be definitely heard while listening to her songs. The mood created from her music is unique as you seem to become emotionally gauged with it, as it draws you in.
As she says in her own words, “I put my soul into this album and I am so proud of what I have created and I can only hope that others appreciate it as well.” Fans of Ricky Eat Acid will definitely enjoy this release as it creates the same atmospheric vibes. After a long anticipated wait, Ricky Eat Acidand Arrangehave released a collaboration titled Sketches. Recorded during the fall and winter of 2011, the release was initially intended to be a full album, but the duo were set back by technology failure, thus putting the project on hold. They then decided to release the four songs that they did finish as an album of “sketches”, rather than not at all.
The roles they each played in the collaboration explained in Sam’s own words, “Malcom recorded the vocals for these songs, as well as a lot of the instruments and synths, while I handled the production aspect mostly, contributing guitars, (some) pianos, pads, bass, (some) synths and most of the drums. We shared a lot of the mixing duties as well. The cover art is also by me, and is composed of four photos I’ve taken (and subsequently re-printed and scanned again to achieve a textured effect.)” You can see a lot more on Ray’s tumblr.

Sound Remedy is an electronic producer from Los Angeles, California, who just started producing music 2 years ago. Since then, he’s put together great remixes for Neil Young, Band of Horses, and Nirvana. A couple of days ago, Sound Remedy released a new track remixing Noosa, a rather unknown (but brilliant!) singer who sounds a bit like Lana Del Rey. Sound Remedy’s production builds up to a sudden drop, which you can listen to below. Sound Remedy releases all of his tracks for free on Soundcloud.
Avicii, one of the biggest house producers from Sweden, releases a bundle of official remixes of his popular hit song “Silhouettes”. One remix stands out from all of the other remixes: the Syn Cole Creamfields mix. This is the first I’ve ever heard about this electronic group or single person and they seem to have no other released tracks on Beatport, putting me under the impression that they’ve just started out. Nevertheless, their remix to “Silhouettes” is incredible. Avicii’s original song is a laid-back smooth house song, but Syn Cole Creamfields absolutely destroy the track by turning it into a fast paced electro that will surely become a live track for Avicii’s performances. Benny Benassi remixing Bob Marley? I know it sounds bizarre, but Benny Benassi, one of the biggest producers in the last decade who made the club-hit “Satisfaction”, creates one of the smoothest house tracks I’ve heard in a while. The build up containing Bob Marley‘s classic vocals perfectly coincide with the steady rising house sound, then the drop contains a firm but relaxing beat. I am impressed with Benny Benassi in this song, remixing Bob Marley is a huge risk considering how hard it is to put reggae sound into a house track. Madeon, the extremely skillful 18 year old producer from France, has been blowing up with his music recently. “Finale” was featured in an Olympic commercial and his remix to “Raise Your Weapon” by Deadmau5 when he was just 16 years old was acclaimed by Deadmau5 himself. Now, Madeon releases a new track featuring singing from Zak Waters (if you haven’t heard him before listen to “Skinny Dipping in the Deep End” because he’s a talented artist as well). Madeon’s new track “The City” has his signature style to it — ever since I found him 2 years ago, I have not once been disappointed by one of his tracks. This is definitely going to become one of Madeon’s breakthrough songs, with both passionate singing and stellar production from the maestro.
It was revealed earlier last week that Animal Collective would premier Centipede Hz today during Geology’s radio mix. Geology’s set featured songs supposedly given to Ben Allen as a reference during the mixing process of the album. After the hour-long set, fans were treated to the eleven tracks they were promised. For those of you that missed the monumental stream of Animal Collective’s 10th LP earlier today, you can still catch the stream of the here. The dubstep monster, Kill The Noise, gives his fans a new music video for his latest EP named Kill Kill Kill. His EP Kill Kill Kill has a variety of tracks from original mixes to remixes by Alvin Risk, and Dillon Francis. The music video is a bloody Tron clip, which starts off with a smooth melody, but then drops to classic Kill The Noise dubstep wubs. The music video is similar to a movie in which it has a plot and stunning visuals. Expect to be surprised from what Kill The Noise makes out of this video. Watch the new music video below.
PrototypeRaptor is a relatively unknown producer who has been making HUGE beats recently. Today, he gives us a free bootleg track; on his Soundcloud he claims it is a quick remix for reaching the 3000 likes milestone on Facebook. Regardless of what he says, this is much more than just a “quick” remix and I am absolutely loving this so far. The song is upbeat and instantly puts you in a happy mood. Enya‘s vocals are catchy and goes perfect with the funky electro sound in the background. If you like Prototype Raptor, be sure to check out his Soundcloud where there are many more songs and also be ready for his new EP that is coming out.
The identity of TheFatRat is still a bit of a mystery, but as a producer, he has made some of the best remixes I’ve ever heard, from remixing “Brightside” to “Somebody I Used To Know” to “Levels”. On his remix to Static Revenger‘s“Turn The World On”, TheFatRat includes vocals from Dev that will for sure become stuck in your head. The remix has the hard bass and TheFatRat’s unique electro sound, making it full of energy and sure shot to make his crowds dance along. If you haven’t heard any other material from TheFatRat I would suggest checking his Soundcloud out because he has at least 5 more hits just like this.
