New: Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius – “Perfect Is The Word”

Rapper-turned-rocker Kid Cudi and his long-time friend and go-to producer Dot Da Genius (who are collaborating under the moniker 2 Be Continuum) have released the first song from their forthcoming rock album Wizard. Like Cudi said previously, the rock album will give him a chance to experiment with his desire to produce songs with rock-inspired roots. “Perfect Is The Word” clearly demonstrates a new change in style and sound with an ominous guitar riff in the background and no rapped vocals from the Cleveland rapper.

Fans of Cudi’s traditional rapping need not worry, however. Back in January, he announced to fans via Twitter that a new rap mixtape A Man Named Scott will be released sometime this summer, as soon as he is “all rocked out” with Wizard.

Interview: All Time Low

Pop punk rockers All Time Low have been at the forefront of their scene since signing with Hopeless Records while still in high school, releasing three albums with the label. The band is currently gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album Dirty Work, which will also be the band’s debut with Interscope Records, set to be released on June 7th in the US and on June 6th in the UK. Lead vocalist Alex Gaskarth took some time out of his busy schedule to talk with me about their new album and touring experiences. You can read the full interview below.

LitS: First off, could you state your name and what you do in All Time Low?

Alex Gaskarth and I sing and play guitar.

LitS: You guys are currently headlining a tour with YellowcardThe Summer Set and Hey Monday as openers. How has this tour been?

We just finished up the tour and it was probably the best touring experience I’ve ever had. Our band grew up listening to Yellowcard so to get the chance to do a full tour with them was awesome. Hey Monday are good friends of ours and we’ve wanted to tour with The Summer Set for a while so we’re glad we could take them out.  Crowds were amazing on the tour each and every night.

LitS: Your new album, Dirty Work, will be released in June of this year. Could you describe the new album for us?

I think it represents a real growth for us and it’s something we’re all extremely proud of. We didn’t do a 180 and make a completely different CD. It still sounds like All Time Low and I think our fans will really be into it. Hopefully it’s just a better All Time Low than you’ve ever heard before. (more…)

Listen: James Blake – “Give A Man A Rod (Alternate)”

British artist/producer James Blake has been considered by many to be one of the leaders of the dubstep and post-dubstep musical movements. His latest track, a reworking of the The Bells Sketch tune “Give A Man A Rod”, is probably the closest he has come to traditional dubstep music. The new song will be featured on Hessle Audo’s new label compilation 116 & Rising, out on May 16. You can purchase the compilationhere.

Check out the song below.

Listen: Manchester Orchestra’s ‘Simple Math’

Manchester Orchestra‘s highly anticipated new album, Simple Math, is set to be released today, May 10 via Favorite Gentlemen/Sony Music Entertainment. The record is, according to frontman Andy Hull, a concept album: “It’s a story about a 23-year old who questions everything from marriage to love to religion to sex. Sometimes even for myself, it’s difficult to decipher which one I’m actually talking to. Everything I’ve written in the past has been about those things. This album is the most realized form of my questioning.” If you have yet to listen to the album, you can stream the album in its entirety below.
