Watch: Pikachunes – “Cinnamon Pop Dream”

Pikachunes
Pikachunes, Kiwi disco pop artist, last week released a music video for his track, Cinnamon Pop Dream off of his new EP Miles. After producing one of my favorite music videos in 2011 for the song Nervous which you can see here, this new video incorporates the same amount of creativity. A completely stop motion effort, solely filmed within a bathroom stall with just the right amount of obscurity that compliments the song perfectly. Stream the video below, and pick up the EP on a “Name Your Price” basis on Lil’ Chief Records’ Bandcamp page.

Watch: The Front Bottoms – “Twin Size Mattress”

TFB
The Front Bottoms have released a new song titled Twin Size Mattress accompanied by a music video which you can watch below. This song is from their new album Talon of the Hawk that will be released on the 21st of May through Bar/None Records. You can pre-order Talon of the Hawk as a 12″ vinyl or a CD.

…more fireworks, more swimming pools, more beer, more fun.

The release of the new album will be followed by a tour of the USA which you can buy tickets for here. For more information, check out their Facebook page and website. The following was said about the upcoming album by Bar/None Records. “At the core of The Front Bottoms’ new album Talon of the Hawk, is the crazy hybrid of slamming rock drumming and acoustic guitar The Front Bottoms are known for, but this time the band augments their sound with electric guitars, synths, even a little accordion. Over top is Brian Sella’s confident heartfelt vocals that will have you laughing one minute, crying the next and then maybe pumping your fist and singing along when you least suspect it. Talon of the Hawk rocks harder than their debut and it is more complex in both subject matter and arrangements. Once this sucker gets it’s claws in you’re going to soar.”

Watch: The Front Bottoms – “Mountain”

The Front Bottoms
The Front Bottoms, acoustic punk band from New Jersey have released a video for their track Mountain from their 2011 self titled album. Known for frontman Brian Sella’s relatable lyrics, The Front Bottoms have recently finished recording their sophomore album and now fans are eagerly anticipating a release date.

Here is what Matt Uychich, drummer of the band had to say about the video. “We had picked up a bunch of fireworks on tour and when we got home we had a few days off. So, we called up our good friend Mark Jaworski and asked him if he wanted to bring his camera along, drink Four Loko and light them off. This is what happened.”

Stream: Cool Serbia – “Kill Someone”

CoolSerbia

Cool Serbia is three piece Noise-pop band out of Brooklyn. They formed in 2010 and over the past year have been touring throughout the East Coast. There was a bit of buzz about these guys, yet I could never get my hands on any of their material. I eventually came to the realization that they had not actually released any material. Kill Someone is the only song I’ve ever managed to find, it’s got a very jangly guitar vibe to it but in a loud shoegaze manor.  On March 5th they are going to release their first EP, pre-orders are available now through their bandcamp. It’s said that the band will tour the US after the release, yet dates don’t seem to be public. Check out their Facebook for more information. Kill Someone can be streamed below and will be featured on the EP.

Watch: Kent State – “Behind Closed Doors”

Psychedelic-pop band Kent State recently released their latest EP Behind Closed Doors through Rok Lok Records, which is currently available for free on their Bandcamp page. I interviewed Nicholas Vance of Kent State earlier in the year which can be found here.

Behind Closed Doors creates a great medium between lo-fi and punk. It has the real “head-nod” quality of punk with a great range in the guitar but the catchy vocals that are softly drowning in reverb. The EP sounds a lot cleaner and tightened up.

On Oct. 10 they released the official video for their EP’s title track. Kent State paired up with some of their friends at Pumpkin Morgue Paranormal Investigators to make the video. All of the side clips in the music video are from Pumpkin Morgue Paranormals ghost hunting mockumentary tv show. Check out the video below.

Watch: A Year With Armin van Buuren

Armin van Buuren, the number one DJ for a consecutive 4 years from 2007 – 2011, gives his fans a 1 hour documentary about his life right now as a superstar producer/DJ. The documentary humanizes Armin van Buuren, even though we think of him as a huge idol. It shows his personal life with his wife and daughter, while juggling the dates and months that he will be on tour for his massive fanbase. This could easily be one of my favorite documentaries about a DJ right now as it captures the personality of a great DJ. Another great documentary to watch is Take One, which is a documentary about the Swedish House Mafia.
