Siebe de Boer’s video for Space Siren‘s melancholic and introspective “Who Makes Me Try?” is a beautifully crafted piece of work that explores space and color, or perhaps, the lack of it. I don’t know much about the Dutch foursome and their label, Subroutine Records, but you can listen to their second studio album (from which this song is taken) here.

And as the label put it on our Facebook page, “Get lost in this video.”

Video: Hit-Boy – “Jay-Z Interview”

Hit-Boy takes a page from his G.O.O.D. Music co-conspirator and mentor Kanye West with his debut rap song, the oddly-titled “Jay-Z Interview”. After conquering the production world with bangers like “N–gas in Paris” and A$AP Rocky‘s “Goldie”, the famed producer is now starting his recording career as a rhymer. Below, you can listen to Hit-Boy’s rap debut alongside the visuals for the track, which includes cameos from Jay-Z, Kanye, Kid Cudi, and Rocky.

Whoever thought I’d be the greatest growing up?

For Danny Brown‘s Party Supplies-aided track “Grown Up”, the Detroit rapper decided to take a creative approach and create a music video that showcased him as a child. In it, we get to imagine a young Danny Brown taking to the streets and causing mayhem in the city and at school, all while reciting his very own rhymes. Below, you can watch the Greg Brunkalla-directed visual and learn the secret behind Brown’s missing front teeth. Watch The Weeknd and Drake Perform in LA

The Weeknd brought out his OVOXO mentor Drake last night while performing at LA’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery. After finishing his first verse on Take Care‘s “Crew Love”, Abel turned to the side and as the crowd suddenly realized what was happening, Drake appeared to finish the song. The two then went on to play Thursday‘s “The Zone”. You can watch a fan-shot, iPhone littered recording of the performance below.

Just a few hours ago, The Weeknd took the stage for the first time in the US to perform a 51-minute set at Coachella. Although he’s played a few shows in Canada and has a tour scheduled later this year, Abel sounded a bit nervous as he performed songs off of his trio of mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, as well as “Crew Love”, his hit with fellow OVOXO member Drake. Normally a very smooth yet mysterious singer, Abel seemed slightly out of place in the bright Californian sun as he missed a few of his higher notes. Frank Ocean, the R&B member of Odd Future, had the spotlight on him on Friday at Coachella. There were some technical difficulties, but overall it was a great performance. Watch: New Drake Music Videos for “Take Care” and “HYFR”

Drake has just released two new music videos for his album, Take Care. The first video is “Take Care”, featuring Rihanna and samples Gil Scott-Heron And Jamie xx’s collab. Yoann Lemoine (“Blue Jeans”, “Born to Die”), the director for the video, told MTV that “it’s actually the most indie video I’ve done my whole life.” As if “Blue Jeans” wasn’t indie enough. The second video is for “HYFR”, which features Lil Wayne. The music video is an amazing recreation of Drake‘s Bar Mitzvah that occurred last year. The video also includes artists such as Trey Songz, Birdman, and DJ Khaled. This video was directed by Joseph Labisi, who has directed music videos for artists such as Chris Brown, Taylor Swift and Common. Watch the two videos below.

Listen: Hoodie Allen – “No Interruption”

I haven’t heard from Hoodie Allen in a while, so it was to my surprise that I came across a new email from him today. And Hoodie was full of surprises: since the end of summer, he has been hard at work creating his first ever retail record, a brand new EP titled All American that will appear for sale on iTunes. All American will also be completely original with no samples appearing on the record, a huge change in style for a rapper that blew up the blogosphere with his catchy indie samples.

Hoodie writes, “So this is something completely new for me. I’ve built most of my following online based around 2 ideas –1. free mixtapes and 2. creative use of sampling. With this new project, I’ve worked really hard to expand upon the sound that my fans love while actually creating all the songs from scratch.”

For a quick preview of what’s to come, Hoodie released a video and a stream of his RJF-produced lead single “No Interruption”, which you can check out below. If it’s any indication of what’s to come, All American will continue with the traditional fun, laid-back sound, while allowing Hoodie a bit more artistic freedom and development. All American will be available on April 10th.
