Listen: Drake – “The Ride (feat. The Weeknd)”

When Drake‘s sophomore record Take Care leaked a few days ago, one of the most talked about tracks was unfortunately not included in that version. That track, “The Ride” actually serves as the album’s closing track and features vocals from Drizzy’s good friend and fellow Toronto native, The Weeknd. Featuring production by Jamie xx, “The Ride” is almost 6 minutes long and features Drake dropping a number of great verses, slow falsettos from Abel, and solid production from Jamie xx. It’s a great combination that not only sounds good on paper, but is also actually even better when it reaches your ears.

Check it out below in all its glory and be sure to purchase Take Care once it is officially released on November 15th.

Tennis Announce New Album, Premiere “Origins”

Next Valentine’s Day, we will all be treated to the release of husband-and-wife duo Tennis‘s sophomore album, Young and Old. The follow up to this year’s Cape Dory, the new album is completely produced by The Black Keys‘ Patrick Carney and will be released by Fat Possum Records. As a first taste, Tennis posted a brand new song titled “Origins” which will serve as the album’s first single. There hasn’t been much change in the duo’s sound and “Origins” is in the same vein as the songs on Cape Dory. You can listen to the track below for free now, or wait for the single’s official release in December.

Listen: Washed Out – “Amor Fati (Clams Casino Remix)”

New Jersey based (no pun intended) producer Clams Casino was recently tapped by chillwaver Washed Out to remix their newly released single “Amor Fati”, which was just put out yesterday by Weird World. Those that order the 12″ single package are treated with three exclusive tracks, including this remix. In his reworking of the euphorically upbeat track from Washed Out’s 2011 release Within and Without, Clams gives it a more laid-back vibe, fine-tuning the summery track to fit the cooling weather. Personally, I’m a big fan of the original track, but without a doubt, Clams does the song justice. That should come as no surprise though, as the producer’s resume includes standout beat work for the likes of Lil BMac Miller, and most recently on A$AP Rocky‘s new mixtape. Check it out below, courtesy of Time Out London.

Stream Childish Gambino’s ‘Camp’

If you aren’t currently hooked on the Take Care leak or ASAP Rocky‘s new mixtape, there’s still plenty of new rap music to keep you busy. After premiering a new track, “Heartbeat”, on radio station Hot 97 earlier in the day, Gambino decided to team up with NPR and release his entire album for streaming online. Praised for his lyrical wit and his Internet-famous punchlines, Gambino has drawn numerous comparisons to Young Money ringleader Lil Wayne and seems poised to steal away some of the spotlight from DrakeCamp will be out November 15th.

Video: Childish Gambino Performs “Bonfire” Live on ‘Fallon’

NBC sure is treating comedian/actor/rapper Donald Glover well. After appearing as Troy Barnes on Thursday night’s episode of Community, Glover returned to NBC as Childish Gambino on Friday night to perform his latest single “Bonfire” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Although Glover is no stranger to TV, he was actually making his first ever appearance as Gambino last night, rocking the stage with his electrifying, punch-line laden rap and a live band accompanying him. Check out the replay below.

Childish Gambino’s first commercially-released album, Camp, will be available on November 15th via Glassnote Records.

Listen: SBTRKT – “Fried Eggs” [Japanese Bonus Track]

Despite his affinity for ceremonial tribal masks and anonymity, masked producer SBTRKT has become a staple in the London electronic music scene. His self-titled debut record hooked listeners all over the world, so it was only fair that the Japanese version of the album included a special never-before-heard track titled “Fried Eggs”. No surprises here and it’s pretty much just what we’ve come to expect from SBTRKT.

Listen: Common – “Sweet”

Funkmaster Flex just liberated the third track and what will probably end up being the next single from Common‘s upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer. Produced by No I.D. (as is the rest of the album), “Sweet” features a fierce-sounding Common dropping rhymes over a hard-hitting beat. Contrary to the song’s name, there’s certainly nothing sweet about this one…

Pardon the bombs from Flex for now.

Video: Kid Cudi – “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)”

The long-awaited short film for Kid Cudi‘s “Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent)” has finally been released. Directed by Shia LaBeouf, the ten-minute-long video features Cudi and fellow rapper Cage going on violent, gory killing sprees. Over the top? Definitely.

Listen: Washed Out – “Call It Off”

Weird World Record Co. just posted a fairly unknown track by chillwave artist Washed Out entitled “Call It Off”. The song will be included on the brand new 12-inch Within and Without single “Amor Fati”, which will be available starting November 7th. If you purchased the deluxe version of the LP from iTunes, you’ve already heard it, but for everyone else, be sure to check it out below. Not sure why this cut was left off the album, as its dreamy synths would have fit perfectly.
